Pilates in Mackay
Pilates matched to what your body actually needs, not a generic mat class. Sessions at Align Health Co are led by our dedicated Pilates Instructor, Colleen Gould, and informed by the same chiropractic team that handles your treatment. Group classes and 1:1 private sessions are both available, and the focus is the same in either format: build the spinal health, posture, mobility and core strength that hold your body together between visits.

Pilates With Clinical Context
Pilates studios across Mackay do good work for people who want general strength and core control. The difference here is the layer of clinical information sitting underneath every session.
Your sessions are informed by a chiropractic assessment. The practitioner knows your injury history, what your body has been doing in treatment, and which movement patterns need loading or backing off. Exercise selection is matched to that, not to a class plan written for an average body.
That matters most when something has been wrong. A movement that's perfect for a healthy lumbar spine can be the wrong call after a disc injury. A loading pattern that builds a strong pelvis in one person can reinforce a compensation in someone with hip restriction. The brief is to load the right tissue at the right dose for where you actually are.
This is the same approach that runs through the rest of the clinic. Movement, strength, balance. Pilates is one structured way to build all three.
The People We Tend to See
Recovering from back or spinal injury Controlled, progressive loading for the spine and the muscles around it. Exercises selected for what your recovery allows and what it needs next, not what the rest of the class is doing.
Active adults supplementing chiropractic care Pilates sits well alongside an ongoing care plan. It builds the movement capacity and strength that helps treatment outcomes hold longer between visits.
Parents and desk workers with core weakness or postural load Long hours seated, repeated lifting, prolonged static posture. The kind of accumulated load that quietly erodes core control until something flares up.
Anyone told to "strengthen their core" without being told how Common advice. Almost never explained. Pilates is the practical version of that instruction, applied to your body specifically.

The Process
1. Initial Assessment A short conversation and physical screen to understand your history, current activity, goals, and anything we need to work around. If you're already a patient at the clinic, your existing assessment carries across, so Colleen knows what your chiropractor is working on and where the movement priorities sit. The starting point for your program comes out of that.
2. Group Classes Mat-based group sessions taught by Colleen. Beginner-friendly, suitable for all ages and abilities, and focused on spinal health, posture, mobility and core strength. Class size is kept small enough that Colleen can correct form individually rather than calling movements from the front. If something needs to be modified for you, it gets modified on the spot.
3. 1:1 Private Sessions On Request For anyone who wants more personalised support, private one-on-one sessions are available on request. These suit people working through specific limitations, returning from injury, or who simply prefer the focus of a single-instructor session before stepping into a group class.
4. Coordinated With Your Care Plan If you're receiving chiropractic care, your Pilates work is coordinated with treatment. Colleen and your chiropractor share notes where it's useful, so the exercises support the rehabilitation goals from your plan instead of pulling in a different direction.
5. Progression Over Time Sessions evolve as strength and movement capacity build. Loading increases, complexity grows, and the focus shifts from rebuilding capacity to maintaining it.
Colleen Gould, Pilates Instructor
Colleen began her work in health and wellness after a significant life experience reshaped her perspective and pushed her toward a career helping others. Since then she has stayed in continual education across movement, nutrition and mindset, which means the support she gives her clients is grounded in current practice rather than a single qualification done years ago.
Her focus is helping people feel stronger, more confident, and more aligned in body and mind. Pilates classes built around spinal health, posture, mobility and core strength are a natural complement to chiropractic care, which is why her sessions sit inside the clinic rather than as a separate offering. With an emphasis on correct form and technique, her classes are beginner-friendly and suit a wide range of ages and abilities. Private 1:1 Pilates sessions are available on request for anyone who wants more personalised support.
Her goal is straightforward: help you move better, feel better, and build long-term, sustainable health.
